President

Eunide Alexandre, executive director and founder of the Alexandre Foundation, is an activist whose activities encompass public service, social entrepreneurship, local politics, health care, and civic responsibility.  Ms. Alexandre made a conscious decision to dedicate her life to public service and to encourage others to achieve their potential and become contributing members of the community.

Ms. Alexandre has worked on behalf of many groups and issues, including housing, civil liberties, and rights for the elderly and people with mental and physical disabilities and special needs. She is a skilled community organizer, facilitator, and creator of grassroots community groups. Ms. Alexandre has also run political campaigns and serves on several nonprofit boards.

At age 14, Ms. Alexandre served as a caregiver to her grandmother who had Parkinson’s disease. This formative experience motivated Ms. Alexandre to create support systems for people whose lives have been touched by Parkinson’s. Most recently, she created a support group in Queens, which she facilitates.

Ms. Alexandre is also committed to entrepreneurship and works to help community members start their own businesses, and to support small business initiatives. Her business acumen was evident when she started her own business after graduating from high school. Ms. Alexandre earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from York University and a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York system.
